Heeeeyyyyyy! It’s been too long!
Oh boy, I ditched everyone for just about a whole year! First off — sorry for ghosting you. That wasn’t nice. There’s been a lot happening. So let me start off with some life updates, which caused my absence:
- I got involved in local politics, and inadvertently ended up running for, and being elected, to my local Board of Education. This is what happens when you can’t stay quiet. Running for local office is an ~experience~.
- Because I ran for Board of Ed, I’m now involved with our local democrat group doing all sorts of advocacy things. I basically went in like a wrecking ball to work on their digital comms, and I have a monthly newsletter going out — if you’re an expert in growing/running hyper-local newsletters, especially if they’re political in nature, give me a shout, yeah?
- I’m the Vice President of our local soccer club. I’ve been on that board for a while, but the workload there has gone up a bit.
- I left Sinch at the end of last summer and joined the awesome folks at Inbox Army as their development lead! I’ve been learning a lot about how agencies work. At times I feel like I’m learning how to develop emails all over again while I think through how to develop a system that will make us even more efficient.
So! Welcome to Meg Codes Email, an evolution of my original newsletter “it depends”. Here, we’re going to jam out about email development, some AI, and how it all fits together. I’ll keep to monthly sends for now.
Why evolve? Why now? The industry is changing. Email development is changing. And I am an AI skeptic. So I want to take what I’m skeptical about, tear it apart, learn more, and see how I can fit it into my expertise — email development.
Let’s go on this journey together, and have some fun while we’re at it. Any questions about email development to get us started? Reply to this email and send them my way, I always love hearing from folks.
Talk soon,
Megan
P.S. I used zero AI to write this.
P.P.S I'm taking on newsletter sponsors now! Huge thanks to the Inbox Monster team for sponsoring this newsletter as it goes through a rebrand. I wouldn't be able to restart without your support. More info on how sponsorships will work is forthcoming.
